McCain on The Daily Show, Iran

I’m a Democrat, but I’ve always liked John McCain and the candor he normally exhibits when talking with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. Just the fact that he has been on the program – not just once but more than any other guest – says something about his willingness to speak up, for or against his party, on controversial issues.

But declarations about “nobody complaining more than me over the last several years about the way the war was being mismanaged” aside, recent comments during his latest appearance on the show seem to indicate that the outspoken, sometimes defiant McCain has retreated far back within the normal Republican confines to embrace the general party line. I guess I should have seen the writing on the wall when the man who just a few months ago said that the military option should be a last resort starts making jokes about bombing Iran.
