New Mexico Gov. Richardson officially enters presidential race

This article from the Los Angeles Times recaps Richardson’s official entry into the race.

Flanked by local Latino leaders and a large contingent of politicians from his home state, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson formally entered the 2008 presidential campaign Monday, saying that his thick resume offered him an ability unmatched by others in the race to tackle the country’s problems at home and abroad.

Richardson’s Bid Is Now Official

There’s a new official candidate in the 2008 presidential election…and he’s not black, white or female…

According to an article in the Washington Post

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson established another landmark in the 2008 campaign Monday, becoming the first Hispanic Democrat to seek the presidency of the United States.

Apparently, this is going to be the election that challenges all of the unwritten requirements of the presidency…

Richardson Aims for Hispanic Vote

This article discusses Richardson’s hope to gain more of the Hispanic vote. He says that he is not well known by Hispanics since he comes from a small state, but believes that he can use his Latino heritage, which he is proud of, to gain a lot of support.

Richardson officially enters the race….

…as people like me shake their heads and go, “Wait, I thought he had already announced…”

The Washington Post article about it is here.

The Governor of New Mexico is playing up his Mexican heritage while seeming to tow the party line on issues like the Iraq War, energy, health care and immigration.

At one point, asked a question about his heritage, Richardson offered to answer the question in either English or Spanish — then burst into French.

He might as well have stuck his tongue out at George W. Bush.

After the Debate, Another Chance to Put Their Spin on Things

Check out this article from the Washington Post that discusses how Gov. Bill Richardson, a 2008 presidential candidate, faired in the first debate and how his ungodly amount of sweating may have hurt him from distinguishing himself. This reminds me of the debates between Kennedy and Nixon…although the article also discusses how he had another chance to explain his position on issues directly after the debate.
