Lieberman expects third-party candidate to emerge

Middle of the road Sen. Joe Lieberman warned Monday that this country may be too small for just Democrats and Republicans to duke it out on politics’ biggest stage. “I think the public is fed up,” Lieberman said. “If the two major parties don’t hear this going into ‘08, there is a real chance of an independent third-party candidacy — and watch out if that happens,” he said at a forum on civility and politics in Congress.

The fastest growing political party in America, he said, is “no party.”

Hmmm … could this be wistful thinking on the part of the Republicans’ favorite Democrat/Independent?
